PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT

February 5th to March 11th, 2012

As the first exhibition of 2012, a year which marks the 150th anniversary of the Uplands house, Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre welcomes two artists, united not only by their love of photography, but also by their bloodline. Father and son, Pierre and Benoit Brühmüller perfectly embody the family spirit for which Uplands has always been known. The public is invited to meet these artists at the opening on Sunday, February 5th, 2012 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Uplands which is located at 9 Speid Street, Sherbrooke (Borough of Lennoxville).

PIERRE BRÜHMÜLLER

A native of Coaticook, Pierre Brühmüller has practiced photography since 1970. Having interests in art, creation as well as publicity, he founded Communigraph in 1984, a company specializing in graphic design and publicity. The works presented in this exhibit explore a great variety of subjects, such as portraits; landscapes, still life and special effects. Through his images, he offers the viewer a glimpse of the wonders he found in the course of a one year journey sailing across 8000 kilometers with his wife. Though his techniques tend to be quite complex, this seasoned photographer delivers images which are remarkably sharp and simple.

BENOIT BRÜHMÜLLER

A visual arts enthusiast, Benoit Brühmüller has grown in the profession of Advertising Photography for more than ten years. From early on, his intuitive understanding of aesthetics and masterful technique of digital photography was impressive, earning him the attention of several renowned companies for which he completed a number of creative projects. In 2009, he added Entrepreneur to his list of qualifications, when he took over his father’s business, renaming it, Brühmüller Photograph. For this exhibition, he has chosen to share a series of personal works which explore the idea of aesthetics. Through the use of brilliant clichés, he shows the viewer that beauty lies not only in the subject of a photograph, but also in its composition, framing and background.

The exhibition will run from February 5th, 2012 until March 11th, 2012.
